How can I make the words bigger or smaller when reading material at this site?

Most browsers allow to adjust the text size. On Windows, hold the Ctrl key and press the + or - key. On Mac, hold the the Cmd key and press the + or - key. On mobile devices, use pinch gesture to increase and decrease font size.
